Social Impact

An arena’s value isn’t only measured in jobs and revenue. Prime Arena is designed to become part of daily life in Dublin, giving people a new place to stay active, watch live sport, and spend time together, whatever their age or ability.

Health

Prime Arena will offer year-round ice skating in Dublin, giving the local community a new place to stay active throughout the year. The rink will host school trips and learn-to-skate programmes alongside regular public sessions, making the ice accessible to complete beginners as well as returning skaters. In total, Prime Arena expects to deliver 1,000+ hours of public skating a year, generating an estimated 263,000 recreational visits.

Sport

Prime Arena will be Ireland’s first permanent Olympic-standard ice facility, giving figure skaters, ice hockey players, and other winter sport athletes a genuine hub to train and compete. The arena will support the Olympic Federation of Ireland and other national governing bodies, creating a grassroots-to-elite pathway that takes athletes from their first time on the ice through to national and international competition.

Night-time Economy

Beyond game nights, Prime Arena is designed to keep the area active around the clock, hosting more than 50 concerts a year alongside a wide range of other live events. The arena’s public plaza is expected to draw more than 3 million visits annually, giving the surrounding area a steady flow of foot traffic that supports local bars, restaurants, and shops well beyond event hours.

Sustainability

Prime Arena is being designed with sustainability at its core, targeting Near Zero Energy Building standards and incorporating on-site renewable energy generation. The design also explores heat recovery systems with the potential to benefit the wider local community, reflecting a broader commitment to reducing the arena’s environmental impact.
